Laura Esterman last worked with Ain Gordon on the premiere of 217 Boxes of Dr. Henry Anonymous in Philadelphia and previously on the development of his play Not What Happened at MASS MoCA, Vermont Performance Lab, and Baryshnikov Arts Center. She just finished the run of David Rabe’s Good for Otto at the New Group. Of countless plays on and off Broadway, some favorites have been I.B. Singer’s Teibele and Her Demon, The SuicideEdith Stein, Charles Mee’s True Love, Mike Leigh’s 2,000 Years, and Scott McPherson’s Marvin’s Room, for which she received Obie, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics’ awards. She was named Best Actress at this fall’s Chelsea Film Festival for her portrayal of an eccentric artist in Can Hitler Happen Here?, which actually has nothing to do with Hitler.
